Demolition for the first phase of the MGM Springfield casino project is reportedly scheduled to start this month. Phase One is the parking structure.
The former Howard Street School will be knocked down and turned into a parking garage. Bids for that project were due by December 1st. Contract award is scheduled for January and a construction start by spring of 2016.
Misc iron bidders who have not yet partnered with a WBE subcontractor should strongly consider doing so, as MGM has set a high priority for hiring minority and veteran subcontractors. Read about their diversity policy here.
